LiverpoolACCORDING to The Liverpool Daily Post, Liverpool have been given permission to speak to Sevilla front-man Luis Alberto.

Brendan Rodgers is already going full steam ahead with his transfer plans as he wants to conclude his deals early on in the transfer window and Alberto is a player who he was been keeping an eye on for a while as he looks to increase his attacking options.

The 20 year old spent last season on loan at Barcelona B, and his performances earned him 11 goals and racking up 17 assists in 37 appearances for the club.

Barcelona were given the opportunity to sign Alberto permanently at the end of his loan period for a fee of around €5 million, but they opted against this approach.

With the deadline of this offer now over, Liverpool are clear frontrunners to sign the Spain under-21 player, though the staggering £7.7 million price tag Sevilla have slapped on Alberto may pose a slight problem to the Reds.

Along with Liverpool, Sunderland are reportedly interested in making an approach for Alberto, however Brendan Rodgers and co are confident of bringing the youngster to Anfield.

Alberto said of his time with Barcelona: “I would have liked to stay at Barcelona, who wouldn’t? But it was very difficult, almost impossible. I’ll take the year and hope fans have enjoyed me.

“The truth is I was quite comfortable, but I knew my situation was complicated. I had to seize the opportunity and become more mature.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
