Liverpool captainCAPTAIN Fantastic’ Steven Gerrard is facing a race to be fit for the start of the new Premier League season.

Gerrard is recovering from a shoulder operation that happened before the end of this campaign, which ruled him out of Liverpool’s last two league matches, and England’s friendlies against Brazil and the Republic of Ireland.

The 32-year-old had the operation earlier than originally planned in order to be fit for the club’s pre-season friendlies. But there is now a fresh scare that the England captain could be out for more than the 8 weeks that was originally estimated.

Roy Hodgson is unsure if Gerrard will be fit for England’s World Cup qualifiers against Modlova on September 6th, and Ukraine on the 10th.

The Reds’ captain enjoyed another terrific season, scoring 9 goals and assisting a further 9 in Brendan Rodgers’ first season in charge of the Merseyside club.

But Gerrard isn’t expected to be fit for Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Australia and Thailand, with the club’s first friendly booked for the 20th of July.

Brendan Rodgers is now expected to be without his captain for the opening day of the new season, which starts on the 17th August. Liverpool’s fixtures will be revealed on the 19th of June, as the club’s discover the match schedules for the 2013-14 season.

mmmmm, even after the club released an OFFICIAL statement on the website yesterday to rebuke this garbage, that was only published by the scum newspaper……But why let the truth get in the way of a good story eh?

Ok here goes, can you please do a bit of research please before just copying every news article known to man… Gerrard is 33 as of May 30th for a start and if you bothered to look on the official Liverpool website it clearly states that Gerrard will be ready for pre-season let alone the start of the 2013/2014 season. Where can i upload my CV cos seriously, i could do a better job on this site myself…

    Cheers
