VARIOUS news outlets including Sky Sports and The Mirror have said that Liverpool are confident of completing Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas’ £7.7 million move soon, despite a reported issue over red tape.
Aspas arrived in Liverpool on Tuesday for his medical, however the striker returned to Spain with no concrete deal with the club; his representatives citing ‘bureaucratic issues’ for the delay.
But both sides are confident that a deal will be struck for Aspas, whose 12 goals for Celta Vigo last season helped them stave off relegation.
Jonathan Aspas, Iago’s brother and agent, has reflected Liverpool’s confidence in signing Aspas, stating on Spanish radio station Radio Galega that:
“There should be no problems. Now only bureaucratic issues remain unresolved.”
The delay in finalising the deal is believed to be a dispute over payments that are allegedly owed to Jonathan Aspas, and this seems to be the only hitch as Liverpool have already agreed a fee and the medical has already been completed.
