ACCORDING to Liverpool’s official website, midfielder Lucas Leiva has claimed that he is feeling around 50% better than he did last season as he jumps into pre-season action for the first time under the charge of Brendan Rodgers.
The Brazil international’s Anfield career has suffered two serious blows since he scooped up the Liverpool Player of the Season award after the 2010-2011 season, but since returning to the team Reds’ last campaign, he has enjoyed a good spell in the first team and he is rapidly regaining his fitness.
Speaking about his injury, and his re-emergence back in the squad, Lucas said:
“I’m feeling 50-60% better than I was last season, the last six months I played were really important for me. I needed to get games and sessions, and this season now I’m feeling strong and feeling that I’m in the shape I was before the injury.
“Now I’ve got to improve the fitness and build confidence, but I’m really happy with the way pre-season has started.”
Lucas has joined 26 other Liverpool players for their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, where the club will face the Indonesian XI on Saturday, Melbourne Victory on July 24th and Thailand on July 28th.

hally, either you’re one of the Lucas haters who wouldn’t give him credit if he beat 9 men and chipped the keeper from 25 yards for a goal, or you’re not following the game closely enough. I was a critic of Didi Hamann in his first season but then I studied what he did and he was brilliant. Lucas has been similiarly been highly unrated and it’s notable that without him our results nosedive. Lucas is a vital member of our squad and we’re lucky to have him

As for Diame, his touch is poor and he is too injury prone, these are the type of players you want? Or Lucas who has proved he consistently improved and up’d his game season after season to be one of if not the best defensive midfielders in the prem? Fools the lot of you!!
