managerLIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his gratitude to the Reds’ Australian fans after more than 95,000 fans made it a ‘wonderful occasion’ yesterday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, LFC Tour has reported.

Liverpool’s overseas tour started with an incredible turnout in Indonesia, and the Australians ensured they replicated the euphoric atmosphere when Liverpool faced local team Melbourne Victory, defeating them 2-0 courtesy of goals from Steven Gerrard and Iago Aspas.

The Northern Irishman has repeatedly mentioned the positive effect that the rapturous support is having on the club, telling LFC TV:

“We’re talking over 80,000 in Jakarta and 95,000 here, and we’re only on tour – it’s absolutely incredible, but again it’s another demonstration of the huge appeal of Liverpool and the status of the football club.

“Great credit to the people of Melbourne and the people of Australia because I know many have flown in from various parts of the country to be here.”

And speaking on the roar of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ reverberating around the stadium, Rodgers said:

“To sing like that in the most iconic stadium in Australia and one of the best in the world, it was a really emotional start to the game.”

The Reds’ victory against Victory maintained their pre-season unbeaten run – a run which has not seen them concede a single goal.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

you are most welcome, btw if you buy eriksen we will make sure next time you come we will crack the 100k barrier 🙂 in all honesty there were many many thousands of fans that tried to buy a ticket were unable to attend. I noticed many tried to buy tickets at the gates, when they realized the ticket counters closed they turned their attention to other people and offered 5 times the ticket value just to witness the phenomenon.

Suarez is just a real fool he is not even considering to go to other league what wil arsenal do for him which lfc cant do,if he is a gud lad he wil focus on this term season so he wil be among the heros that fired lfc back to champions league glory again,or maybe he is not happy with our new signings but does he want to do it alone,am just disapointed with suarez he shuld be forced to stay and if he does not show commitment he shuld be warning the bench. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
