Good news on the injury front for Reds

Glen Johnson injuryLIVERPOOL forward Daniel Sturridge has a good chance of being fit when Liverpool travel to Swansea on Monday, whilst right-back Glen Johnson’s injury does not appear as serious as initially feared, according to the Daily Mail

Sturridge, who has scored all 3 of the Reds’ goals this Premiership campaign in successive 1-0 victories, suffered a thigh injury 2 weeks ago against Manchester United, and as a result was forced to pull out of England’s qualifying matches against Moldova and Ukraine.

Sturridge has since been nursing his injury at Liverpool’s training ground, Melwood, but will not be able to train properly until Saturday – 2 days before Liverpool make the trip to the Liberty Stadium. Despite this, manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful of Sturridge making the team and adding to his impressive tally of 16 goals in 20 appearances for the Reds.

The Reds will also be happy with the progress of Glen Johnson, who was forced to limp off, also against Manchester United, with an ankle injury.

Despite the right-back’s injury believed to keep him out for about 10 weeks, it seems that the injury is not as severe and that Johnson will return earlier than expected.

Johnson himself put on Twitter:

“Injury doesn’t seem as bad as first thought, hopefully be back sooner than originally expected! #BetterNews,”

Johnson is expected to be out of action for about another 5 weeks, with Brendan Rodgers left to ponder who will replace him.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
