LFC Man UtdLIVERPOOL midfielder Lucas Leiva has took to the club’s official website to urge the supporters to remain optimistic after Liverpool maintained their 100% start to the season by beating Manchester United on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have won all three of their opening Premiership games without conceding a single goal, as well as defeating Notts County 4-2 in the Capital One Cup.

The team, however, have not got ahead of themselves and both the players and Rodgers himself have warned that there is still a lot of work to be done to maintain this fantastic record.

Despite this, Lucas has admitted that he believes the fans have a right to celebrate Liverpool’s progress, the Brazilian said:

“I don’t think it’s dangerous for the fans to get a bit carried away after a win like this – they should celebrate. It’s a great start. We can’t deny that. That’s the way we wanted to start.

“But for the players, we need to keep our calm and keep our focus as it’s a long, long journey until the end of the season. For sure, it’s a great start and much better than last season. We just need to keep our focus and try to play every game like a final.

“There’s a greater belief among us now. We all believed previously, but now we have a stronger team.”

Liverpool currently sit top of the table with 9 points from 3 games, 2 points ahead of Chelsea as a result of the Blues’ goalless draw with Manchester United.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Since your team has already collected the trophy in your dreams, then your laughter is just. Deluded smock.

The team should play every game like that 2005 CL final against Ac milan.
