IN his post match interview for BBC Sport, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers praised the impact of Daniel Sturridge and the returning Luis Suarez.
Speaking after the pair combined for all of Liverpool’s goals in a 3-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light Rodgers said of Suarez:
“He’s getting the reward for his hard work over the period he was off.”
Playing his first League game since being suspended for 10 games for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, Suarez was a constant thorn in the side of a Sunderland team rooted to the bottom of the Barclays Premier League. His link up play with Sturridge was excellent throughout the game and the pair looked a lot more dangerous than on Wednesday night against Manchester United in the Capital One Cup.
Rodgers went on to say:
“He and Daniel Sturridge are a great partnership, they combined very well.
“Him and Daniel up front are a real, real handful. We’ve changed our system a bit to a 3-4-1-2 and it’s working well.”
The result was a welcome one for the Reds after two consecutive 1-0 defeats and Rodgers was happy to see Liverpool return to winning ways:
“On the back of a really tough game where we played well during the week, today was always going to be physically demanding game for us,” he added.
“I thought the work we put into it was exceptional.”

Lets hope that the combination of Sturridge and Suarez will terrorise the opposing defenders. 🙂
