managerTHE Sunday Mirror have reported that Liverpool FC are planning to offer manager Brendan Rodgers a new long term contract.

The 40 year old Northern Irish Manager is in the final two years of his deal at Anfield is expected to sit down and begin talks on a new deal with the Reds between now and the end of the season.

The Liverpool board are keen to begin talks as there is still interest in Rodgers from Manchester City, Arsenal and he has even been mentioned as a potential successor to current England Manager Roy Hodgson, especially if the Three Lions fail to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Rodgers guided Liverpool to their best league start since the 1994/95 season this season and was named Barclays Manager of the Month for August.

The Reds currently sit second in the Premier League and Rodgers’ stock is high within the walls of Anfield. The club is not only impressed with what is happening on the pitch, they are very happy with how Rodgers dealt with the Luis Suarez saga before the end of last season and during the summer months.

Rodgers has said on numerous occasions how happy he is at Anfield, so any contract talks should be short and successful.

Invest in January and wait until summer
To early to give him new deal just because we are winning games that we should indeed be winning!!
Liverpool need a powerful ball winning centre mid to come in and compete with lucus and indeed challenge lucus.
We are still lacking a better wide player, Moses will go to bench when coutinho is back with Suarez and sturridge up top.
We can not rely in sterling and Ibe they are not good enough yet !!!
Liverpool need a out and out striker because if sturridge gets a knock and Suarez then we are in trouble.
3 players needed at a minimum but we can get buy with buying just a centre mid and play maker in jan.
And please no more * Aspas or borini’s or allen type deals!!!

Considering BR has brought a team that lost it’s spark years ago with Benitez’s departure, it really makes me frown at the comments that have been made against him. You compare performances from when Hodgson and Dalglish and their is just no comparison. The style of play and philosophy Brendan has brought to this team is bringing us back into competition. There aren’t many managers who have the skill-set and knowledge to work with a team on limited funds and bring them back to where Liverpool are currently playing at. Granted, he has a while before we can judge his impact on the team but so far, how can anyone complain. The progress Brendan has made with Liverpool is outstanding and why would we blow that all away just because we haven’t instantly become title contenders? It baffles me that a selection of people can be so blind or ignorant to this new and inspiring Liverpool squad which is only getting stronger.
