LiverpoolLiverpool striker, and one half the the club’s deadly ‘SAS’ partnership, Luis Suarez believes he and strike partner, Daniel Sturridge, can help the club challenge for the top four this season, according to The Daily Post

Since Sturridge arrived at Anfield from Chelsea in January, him and Suarez have scored a combined 17 goals, and their link-up play has seen the duo emerge as one of the most feared partnerships in the Premiership.

Suarez almost left the club this summer, the Uruguayan the subject of two failed bids from Arsenal and had also piqued late interest from Real Madrid.

However, the 26 year old is still at Anfield and, since returning from his 10-match-ban, has hit the ground running and is planning to bring Brendan Rodgers’ side to the Champions League.

Suarez said: “We are trying for progression, he is 24 and I am 26, so we are trying our best to progress for the future of the club.

“We know in the last few seasons, Liverpool have been not been in the Champions League and we know we can help the team challenge for the top four.

“We will try our best but Liverpool is not only Suarez and Sturridge – it’s the whole team.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

liverpool are playing good at the moment and are capable of doing some thing but i have one observation is the referees when players being harshlee tackled for example at swasea when coutinho was injured.
so if the referees are not bias then i think liverpool will do wonders.

nice partnership from SAS, good delivery from you guys, we only need a marquee midfielder to balance and steadify the momentum.

  • KIMZZY says:

Champions league qualification is a tough quest, but I believe with current form of the squad and with a marquee signing expecting to arrive on january, reds can make it, and if luis stay with us and believe in the red shirt, I think we are a top four contenders#YWNA!!!

  • Terry says:

What a difference 2months make, in September all I was reading was Rogers is rubbish, fsg will ruin the club etc, we’ll how wrong can you be, we’ll done Brendan thank you fsg I’m glad Suarez stayed! Looking good Billie Ray feeling good Luis!!!! YNWA.

    • Dennis says:

Wake up . We have had an easy start. Rodgers is rubbish . We won’t get top 4

      • Terry says:

Dennis there you go with the negative waves, can’t you say anything good?

      • russell fitzgerald says:

Wise up stop the negative thoughts we are lfc and no reason we can’t take the title try telling shanks any thing else

      • aaron says:

I love Dennis, he can’t see the woods for the trees.

Before Rodgers came if we had exactly the same start we would not be in this position.

The mentality he is bringing to the club is that of winners.

Man Utd have not always had the best squad but have generally always had the biggest winning mentality, installed by Sir AF.

Liverpool have had some excellent squads in our premier league history but have not been consistent, Rodgers is delivering this yet Dennis calls him rubbish.

He signed Sturridge and Coutinho when they weren’t playing at their teams and got the best out of them.

Switching formation and tactics to get the best out of SAS, yet is rubbish.

Sakho and Toure proving instant hits but is a rubbish manager.

I’m laughing so hard I woke the neighbour on the fifth floor, I live on the ground floor. Haha.

Dennis, do us a favour and tell us a) what he needs to do to be labelled as a good manager, in your expert opinion b) who you really support

        It’s getting boring now mate.

I think its great to be a Liverpool fan at the moment. Years and years of watching man united winning leagues, now its our turn for the next 20 years…

  • SimplePieman says:

I don’t know why you are so worried about keeping Suarez in January – we kept him over the summer when its more likely that he could have gone. We said no, end of. He wont go anywhere til we say yes – its not a case of preventing him leaving, we have to say “yes” and agree to him leaving. So chill.

  • Muzamiru says:

I loved liverpool and suarez ambitions.

  • Jamie says:

Been watching liverpool all my life and I can honestly say this is the best team since rafaloution in 2008/09 great to see Rodgers with a genuine vision to what the club can be and he has also been very clever in the transfer market with coutinho, Sturridge, toure and mingolet hopefully we can keep a hold of suarez in January an mount a real challange for top 4 and who knows the sky’s the limit this season
