Sack the manager

Image for Sack the manager

LiverpoolHAVING given it serious thought and consideration, there is only one outcome that I can reach after analysing the performance of Brendan Rodgers, and that is that he should be sacked.

Firstly, there is the problem with beating the top opposition. He has never beaten any of the top sides except that win against Man Utd this season, which doesn’t really count as it sabotages my argument. Oh, and the win against Tottenham at home last year but that doesn’t serve my purpose so we will ignore that one too.

Secondly, there is the embarrassingly poor signings he has made since becoming manager at LFC. Let’s face it Borini, Assaidi, Allen, Sahin and Aspas have all not proven to be great successes. If we take out Sturridge, Coutinho, Toure, Sakho and Mingolet who have all been great, then his choices of signings have been awful.

Imagine our team if we remove those good players he signed, which we should because it doesn’t really count because Rodgers is a pub manager. If we didn’t have those players our team would be full of the poor signings that Rodgers has made and that is how we should measure him.

Thirdly, there is the issue of improving the team. Look at last season, we finished 7th and didn’t win any trophies and we didn’t qualify for Europe this season. The season before, we got to two finals, won a trophy and finished 8th. Rodgers took us backwards last season and if we ignore the massive upswing in results since the turn of the year when he signed the good players (that don’t count) then it is shocking.

Also if we disregard our current brilliant run of form this season taking us to second in the table and delivering consecutive 4-0 home wins, then Rodgers’ time clearly has to come to an end.
[ad_pod id=”unruly-video” align=”center”]
Really, we should remove all the good results we’ve had (which would put us bottom of the table) because none of them really count because good old Brendan or (Brenda – ha ha chortle) is a Championship pub manager.

And don’t get me started on FSG. How they can constantly put money into the club and make us a much more prudent and financially accountable team is astounding. They should be hung drawn and quartered for not being oil swilling oligarchs shoving fistsful of money towards top class journeymen like Tevez. I mean such reckless spending could solve all our problems and make us just like any other club happy to take money and ask no questions.

What’s even better is that if we did have these cash rich money splurging owners, then we could well end up in administration and perhaps out of business, if they removed their funding. Malaga are surely the club we should look to imitate.

The biggest problem is the style of football though. I have become used to the tactical considered football that Benitez brought us and then the mudane football that Hodgson gave us and to a much lesser extent Dalglish. For Rodgers to have made the team exciting to watch and scoring goals is surely his biggest crime. When all four goals against West Brom were worthy of being on any season highlights reel, I was sickened. The excellent football leading to Henderson’s mouthwatering pass to Luis Suarez on Saturday was the final straw.

I am therefore left with the only choice of demanding Rodgers immediate resignation. All of his achievements count for nothing especially taking us to second in the table so far this year. It has been a truly harrowing experience that hope and optimism have been brought back to Anfield and I wish him luck as he goes on to destroy another club.

Yours Sincerely,

A. Mug

There are elements of truth behind that sarcastic filled article.

  • aaron says:

    Spot on Mr Reilly.

I’ll meet you on Anfield road and we can start the protest to get him out now before he can do more damage and send us top, albeit shortly and only if we beat Everton.

The success we want is finally being achieved and with clown Rodgers at the helm, he is the responsible one and must LEAVE NOW!!

    • Jay says:

      Boring little troll Aaron.

      • aaron says:

If that is the limit of your ability to converse Jay, you gonna be in real trouble when you leave your Kleenex ridden room and enter the real world.

All you’ve done is try and insult people.

Again, when you call me troll, the compliment is massive, thank you muchly.

        • Jay says:

Lol. You are the TROLL. didn’t you just leave 3 posts on the previous article just to call people idiots ?

3 posts . Each identical. It say ‘idiot’
Now who is the troll ? You also posted insulting message calling someone gay because u didn’t like what he said.

You ARE just a dumb troll. All u desrve are insults.

  • Damo says:

You want him sacked or you want him to resign? Make your mind up! Pointless article, badly written. Humour? Inanity more like!

  • FSG Out says:

Rodgers deserves till the end of this season but if he dont win the title or finish 4th and win the cup then i cannot see him bringing success to the club.
    Here are the Facts:

At least accept the valid reasons why some dont rate Rodgers:
    Last season:
Out of all competitions by February
Lost to Oldham & Northampton in the cups.
Failed to qualify at all for Europe.
    Finished 7th in Prem.
    This season:
Left in just two competitions in September, yes September!
These are cold hard facts that give people little faith in Rodgers. Fairly understandable for people to be a bit sceptical.
If Rodgers proves people wrong and wins the league then i’ll happilly eat humble pie. That is all.

    • Vod says:

So if he wins the league in his second season then you’ll be happy… not much to ask for then!

      • FSG Out says:

Yes because i am desperate to win the title after 23 years unlike lukewarm soft-ass fans like you.

        • Vod says:

Mate, we all want to win the title, but you also require an element of realism and patience. You list a bunch of Rodgers so called failings from last year when he inherited someone else’s team and then you go on to say… ‘Left if just 2 comps in September, yes September’! You make it sound like he started the season in a whole bunch of comps and has been hopeless, not that he started in 3 and was knocked out of the 1 by Man U.

What about the cold hard fact ‘seeing as you like them so much’ that after 11 games we sit second in the league, does that not demonstrate progress and warrant patience… Nah, you probably will still only be happy if he’s got the FA Cup and Prem in the bag by come May.

Oh and seeing as we’re being offensive… *!

          • FSG Out says:

LOL! Another numpty who thinks the seasons over in November. Feels like deja vu talking to people on here.

        • me says:

It would be different if this was a manager who has been at the club awhile aka Rafa. Rogers is hardly bringing the club down, so if he can finish top four this season, he should get at least 1-2 more chances for PL champions. I mean he brought us back from 8th in 2 seasons..what other manager can do that…Moyes was supposed to be good but he did the exact opposite…

    • Dan says:

Hahahha clueless idiots last season he was at new club and inherited someone’s team now his getting his ideas across we are seeing the benifits give him a chance I actually think Brendan is a winner and an honest bloke

      • FSG Out says:

Yes two years is enough of a chance as i said if you can read properly. But why should he get longer if he fails? FSG sacked Hodgson and Dalglish pretty sharpish so two years of abject failure should be enough imo,

        • No sheep says:

If you think he should get till the end of the year why are you slagging him off all the time?

          • realist says:

No sheep. Try and say something intelligent just ONCE even !

          • FSG Out says:

Look up all my comments, i never once asked for Rodgers to be sacked, what i am saying is i dont see him being a success, apart from Sturridge/Coutinho all the rest of his signings have been poor. We are second now but i dont think we’ll be there at the end of the season, my prediction – 6th. If Rodgers proves me wrong then as an LFC fan i will eat as much humble pie as you can provide. But i dont share other fans optimism.

    • Mark Redmond says:

Good comment fsg out . I agree . He has had more chances than some . Top 4 is minimum requirement. With all the others struggling and most in a season of transition , top 4 is the LEAST we should expect.

    • No sheep says:

We lost to the team that won the cup. Swansea. Didn’t your rafa lose in the cup to Northampton a few years ago? Before Kenny or Roy did as well.

      • realist says:

        Ha ha ha ha

Little no sheep showing his complete ignorance AGAIN . Hodgson lost to Northampton not rafa or kenny

Do you actually have ANY knowledge of LFC at all ?

      • FSG Out says:

Ok fair point it was Swansea but this opens up a whole new debate. Laudrup in his 1st season:
        Won a trophy
        Qualified for Europa
        Having spent less than Rodgers
        With a smaller squad.
Rodgers finished with no trophy and no European footy – FACT

        • aaron says:

And how is he doing second season, Laudrup?

        • No sheep says:

07/08 we won a replay with Luton and went out to Barnsley in the fa cup.
Wigan won it last year and were relegated. It took penalty’s to beat Cardiff in carling which is a joke. . The only people who care about who won it are the people who won it that year. Would arsenal swap it for there champions league spot. Bet you would choose 4th over both carling and fa cups. And all this means nothing cause liverpool exists to win league titles and old big ears not waste of time carling cups. When was the last time you talked about how many carling you have won to a manc. The only thing that matters is how many times you have won big ears, leagues and where you are in the league.

Personally I am happy we are not in the Europa league this season, unnecessary drain on the squad.

          • realist says:

What a totally moronic idiotic comment. We don’t care about Wigan. This is about LFC you total fool. Your glad we are not in Europe ? Your glad we cant attract better players ?

What do we expect from the ignoramus that doesnt want Suarez in our team

          • FSG Out says:

I’m not surprised to read no sheeps comment, clearly your standards as a fan have dropped badly, Liverpool used to be a club that tried to win as many trophies as possible every year, breaking records galore. Sadly not the case under current owners/management.

          • No sheep says:

So you would take carling cup and fa cup over top 4 place. Shows what you know about the running of a club the size of Liverpool. We need champions league to stay alive. The owner are still playing out to keep us alive as well as giving money to spend on transfers. But none of that matters to the likes of you does it. You couldn’t care about the long term future of the club as long as we are challenging right now and spending at least 30 million ago on players.
Liverpool were not in the top4 when fsg or Rodgers arrived they have been trying to right the wrongs of the previous regimes. That includes both g+h and rafa. The club was in bits bloated wage structure with few real talented players at the club. Thanks to a mixture of g+h not giving rafa the money he wanted and the fact that rafa signed every man and his dog,in the hope that one or two would turn out to be a diamond in the rough. So you can not blame rodgers or fsg for where we are and in doing so it makes you look childish.

  • joekings says:

You are truely realistic, BR has really improved d team quite well nd playin gud futbol buh i havnt really seen dat fightin spirit in dem dat de had durin d time of rafa nd his predecessors, jst home we score first in all our games coz we seem 2 end up losin or drawin any match we conceed first only but a few 2 exclude….

I come here to defend Rodgers and enjoy every person wound up by my staunch defence of his ability and how we have changed as a team, for the better, you don’t walk backwards into second, no matter how easy a start you have.

Troll Aaron. Still boring everyone with your rubbish.

  • No sheep says:

Don’t bring fsg into this everyone know we don’t slag fsg off any more, we use the money they gave rodgers to slag rodgers off. Wait till BR is out the door and then we can go back and getting fsg out.

  • Alfie says:

Your having a laugh ain’t your mate. Absolute joke mate. You can’t just take all the good things Rodgers has done and critisise the bad ones. You absolute bloody muppet! You must be frickin’ blind not to notice the significant progress made under this manager. He is one of the best managers we have had since, Gerard Houllier. Not every manager can win a bloody trophy in his first season mate, so go do one, before you critisise this man.

    1. Tell me one manager, that NEVER made a mistake sigining.

    2. We are SECOND in the table. Simple as.

    3. He has improved the likes, of Henderson, Sturridge, Coutinho, etc.

    4. You must be blind not to see the improvement from the last 3-4 seasons compared to this year.

    5. He is honest during interviews and doesn’t hide anything, especially when we lose.

    6. Screw you, and think through what your gonna write before you write it. Pure idiotic.

    • realist says:

Not very smart are you ? It was meant as a sarcastic article. Typical Rodgers fanboy , all mouth no brains.

    • FSG Out says:

So no – one can win a trophy in his 1st season?
      Rafa – CL
Di Matteo – CL and FA cup
      Laudrup – League Cup
      Ancelotti – the Double
Mourinho – Prem + League Cup
      Dalglish – Double
      Rafa (Chelsea) -Europa League
      Mourinho – Inter, Serie A
Errr, i really could go on but why should i have to educate a numpty like you? Put your brain in gear first before typing!

    • aaron says:

They want Rodgers to fail as soon as possible before they too become ‘ brainwashed’ and are stuck with him.

That’s why they choose not to see any positives, if they do declare a positive it will only be said of the player i.e Daniel Sturridge etc, certainly not of BR. Nothing will ever be good enough for them.

They have some sort of personal agenda and are not enjoying being high up the table, until Rodgers stops deceiving us and the owners have been seen as the greedy yanks they so desperately want to see them as.

I quite like all this deceit, better than honest Dalglish finishing eighth!! Two finals I know but we should not continue being the cup team we are.

About time we kept pace with the leaders for once!!

And the problem with this is what exactly??

Maybe you should all go to the regular brain washing meetings they have inside anfield, maybe then you might like watching the games instead of constantly looking for faults with the manager, just saying.

Que lots of abuse and loads of delude remarks again.

I’ll save you all allot of time

you are all deluded deluded deluded deluded deluded deluded deluded repeat until everyone falls asleep.

2nd in the league, where is the issue?

      • Jay says:

Troll Aaron. Still trolling. Boring idiot

        • aaron says:

Jay if you read my posts you will see attempts at humor you just repeat the words boring and troll, quite frequently.

I think that makes reading your minuscule comments, that you say you don’t do, quite dull and not in the last bit offensive.

Read one of your posts, read them all. Massive yawn, How old are you anyway, I’m guessing not long out of nappies?

Buy yourself a dictionary or check one out online, will help you write more than three words, or ask the person who looks after you to buy one, if you can’t afford it,

An article enjoyed with tense feelings

  • Precious Ndubuisi Chima says:

BR is d man to take Liverpool to d next level, so if dnt have something reasonable to say, u better shut up, In BR we trust, up BR nd Up Liverpool

  • john says:

i dont know why ppl take there time to write nosense. everything written here is a big critism. from what am seeing, BR is doin nothing but movin LFC forward. pls look for sm1 to critisize and not BR.

    • me says:

you do realize this whole thing is sarcasm right? he is trying to prove how embarrassing “SACK BR…FSG OUT!” trolls are and how silly they sound…

  • Ibrahim says:

Toilet paper article, or just a way of getting readers to the sites and making comments. Either way it I would imagine it has succeeded.

Brenda when he came in, LFC by the wishes of the ownership had to cut the wage bill and all the talk about wanting to qualify for the CL was PR, i.e. managing fans. Brenda in his first season sold some of the dead wood including some high earners that realistically were not mobile enough, could not adapt to his system, or he did not rate them. Yes in this season we were out of all competitions by about late Jan; yes this is a fact but it is also a fact he was playing some youth players, had a very small squad after trimming the wage bill. It is also a fact that not all the money he spent was well spent and it is also a fact not all transfers turn out to be a success. It wasn’t too long ago when Manure bought Anderson for over 25mil, veron, for over 30mil and numerous other in the region of 5-15mil that have not worked out.

Season two, Liverpool have improved in the league considerably. Our target is to get into the CL and so far we are on course. Yes we have has some bad results, then so have other teams, and they realistically want win the league. The 3-5-2 formation/system, I think has cost us at lest 4 points, but it was a tactical experiment that did not work. What it shows is Brenda is not rigid, he is willing to tinker and change for the better of the team; it shows he is versatile, a quality which some of our previous managers lacked.

Yes Brenda is learning on the job. So what!!, we are not going to get a Jupp Heynckes, Hiddink or anyone of that ilk. What will we offer them, our history, a long term project, with little financial support, and the remit to qualify for CL. We have to be realistic and give Brenda time, so far he is doing well, not “fantastic”, but he is doing well in the current circumstances.

The only other option is a multi-billonaire buys LFC, that is willing to spend his way to the top.

  • TheKris says:

What a waste of an internet page..pure garbage! I know it’s suppose to be funny but it ain’t..in Brendan we trust..! 🙂

    • me says:

Actually, I find this quite clever… it proves how silly all those plastic fans are who want BR and FSG out…lol

  • Denis D says:

Rodgers is a good young manager, he should not be sacked or resign he is doing a very good job. he has made his mistakes: with some diar, abyzmal attacking signings: Alberto, Assaidi, Aspas and Borini.

And he needs to ship them out between January and the summer with the three other dead wood players at the club still: GK B Jones CB S Coates RB J Flanagan

The owners need to give B Rodgers some serious investment to challenge the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Tottenham for the league.

Not a measley 20-30m per transfer window to compete for top 4, even Southampton spent 50m plus last summer, owners need to give Rodgers 60-70m in January. And then 60-100M in the summer as Two big spending transfer windows on the right players for the right positions and our club will be definately be back competing with the elite sides in Europe again in the Champions league and competing in it to win it year in year out.

We are currently lacking good class competition in squad for G Johnson, for Allen, for Henderson and for someone to replace S Gerrard(33) as he is on his last legs. There is no class, quality competition for Lucas at club, There is no class, consistant performing , goalscoring wingers for IBE and Sterling to learn and compete with. There is no real class competition for Coutinho, Sturridge or Suarez at club.
( 10 class, quality players short)

So in January: 6 players / 5 positions will and should be filled strengthened:

1: GK: Competition and Cover for Mignolet: A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading

2: DM: Competition and Cover for Lucas: M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan

3: CM: Competition and Cover for Henderson: Y Cabaye(27) Of Newcastle

4: CM: Competition and Cover for Allen: Koke(21) Of A Madrid

5: RW /RWF: Competition and Cover for Sterling: M Salah(21) Of Basel

6: LW / LWF: Competition and Cover for IBE: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle or D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon

Then in the summer: These 4 players need to be brought in also to complete squad and then there will be class, quality competition for places for every position at club

1: RB: Competition and Cover for Johnson: Montoya(22) Of Barcelona
2: AM: Competition and Cover for Coutinho: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao
3: FD: Competition and Cover for Sturridge: L Remy(26) Of QPR
4: FD: Competition and Cover for Suarez: G Rossi(26) Of Fiorentina

    • me says:

I’ll be honest I didn’t read the first part of your comment, but I’ll assume you didn’t realize the whole thing is sarcastic… he is trying to prove how dumb people sound when they say “FSG and BR OUT.”

As for the rest of your comment…I sorta agree. You list a lot of good targets, but there are more options too. this is what I would do in order of priority. Probably first 3-4 in winter and rest in summer.
1: DM: M’Vila or Matuidi or Amartey
2: Winger in general: El Sharaawy or Salah or Capel(just because he is linked…don’t rate him)
3: CM: Matic or Matuidi or Alonso or Cabaye
4: CM/AM: Koke or Suso recall or Munian or Iturbe or Pastore
5: RB: Montoya or other (we were linked before)
6: AM: Any of the others listed above
7: CT/F: Remy or a bunch of people.
8: GK: tbh I don’t see much as a need rather than a want. There are plenty of aging keepers we can get if Jones doesn’t cut it for 7 reason or another. We can always promote U21 if he is good. Ter Stegen would be awesome, but he deserves playing time.

      Bottom line, we have options.

    • Shibashis says:

Sorry but I have to say this…..it must be so nice to play Fifa or Football manager for long hours. Too bad I do not have the time.

      • me says:

Hey, I never said any were realistic…just regurgitating rumors. My point is that we have a good list of “supposed” options and that BR has recognized our need for CMs and WFs. Just be glad im not recommending Rooney or Ronaldo (trust me…I’ve heard it before)… 😉

        • Shibashis says:

‘me’ I was replying to Dennis D and not you, no need to be defensive! Like all the people in this forum (barring a few imposters) we have the best of the club in our heart.
I for one do not think there will be any major changes in signing. If there are any signings, they will be limited to 2 and not more. BR is not going to recruit any more squad players, he is only going to splash the cash if there is a genuine quality first team player available for reasonable amount. A nimble, swift and lightning quick winger to go on the left….ohh….then we can leave pretty much everyone dead on our trail!

          • Denis D says:

            Shibashis , you clown.

We need class quality players in the centre of midfield as to be blatantly honest:

Allen is neat on ball, too cautious, mobile and has bit of pace about him but average at best, lacks creativity and buckles in front of goal

Henderson is mobile, good passer, good movement but also too cautious, lacks creativity and also is clueless in front of goal.

S gerrard has been a great amazing loyal servant of liverpool and has carried the club on his shoulders for over a decade and he is now 33, he has lost the mobility and pace he had. And he is on his last legs. And needs to be replaced

The class and quality of Alonso and Mascherano has still not been replaced at club nearly 6 years on and now we have to replace Our Captain Fantastic’s Class and Quality.

So that’s Class Quality 3 / 4 Centre Midfielders needed:

So between January and the Summer Transfer window:

1: DM: M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan or Fernando(26) Of Porto should be brought to club in January ( Mascherano Type player)

2: CM: Koke(21) Of A Madrid should be brought to club in the summer
            (Mobile, Alonso Type Player)

3: CM: Y Cabaye(27) Of Newcastle should be brought to club in January
4: CM: A Lallana(25) Of Southampton should be brought to club in Summer

M’Vila and Koke will bring the class and quality that we have lacked in the centre of midfield for nearly 6 years and Cabaye and Lallana will bring the class and quality we will need when Captain Fantastic hands his boots up probably next year.

And we all just to have to hope Captain Fantastic can stay injury free for year and a half.

As Allen and Henderson are both average at best

Do we have any class quality competition at club for any of these players?

G Johnson at RB? Flanagan abyzmal , Kelly injury prone

AM: Coutinho? Alberto seems average at best and waste of 6.8m

            FD: Sturridge? NO

            FD: Suarez? NO

Do we have any class creativity and goals from out wide at the club who Ibe and Sterling can learn and compete with? NO

So how is that Fantasy football?

If i was picking fantasry football players or players i would love at our club and make us better team but players who we have no chance of hell in getting then these will be the players that i would say we should go for:

            1: DM: J Martinez(26) Of Bayern Munich
            2: CM: C Fabregas(25) Of Barcelona
            3: CM: T Alacantra(22) Of Bayern Munich
            4:CM: Draxler(21) Of Schalke

5: RW / RWF: Neymar (21) Of Barcelona
            6:

          • Denis D says:

LW / LWF: Messi(26) Of Barcelona

            7: FD: Falcao(27) Of Monaco

If i was thinking Fantasy football, these would be the players i would love to see at our club. But they are not realistic and it would never ever happen, but the players i have mentioned are class and quality and if our club really went for them then we could bring them to the club. And i am sure that they would be massive hits and the club
