With the Premier League looking like it’s going to go down to the last day of the season, Luis Suarez is ensuring that there is no contest when it comes to winning the individual awards as he picked up the FWA Player of the Year award to add to his PFA Player of the Year won recently.
Speaking about Suarez, FWA chairman, Andy Dunn, said “Those members who have been fortunate enough to be working at a match involving Luis Suarez have witnessed an astonishing talent first-hand,”
“Tireless endeavour allied to extraordinary imagination makes an irresistible combination. Add ingenious, impudent finishing and you have a footballer who truly quickens the pulse.
“Luis is a remarkably gifted addition to the long and distinguished list of winners of our award.”
It appears that all but a handful of voting journalists voted for Suarez, with one or two opting against it for ‘moral reasons’, whilst Jim White wrote earlier in the week that he had voted for Yaya Toure, believing that the City midfielder was the best player in the league.
Whilst there is no doubting Toure’s ability, even suggesting that there is a better player in England than Suarez is laughable, given the goals, assists and sheer single-mindedness Suarez shows on a regular basis but it seems the majority were in Suarez’s corner, accepting that the Player of the Year award should be based on performances over a season, nothing else.
Congratulations again, to Luis, on another well-deserved individual award!
Suarez doesn’t deserve that award,I think yaya toure deserve it more because toure has been incredible throughout dis season.but congratulation to suarez
Toure is great but he’ll never have the same jaw dropping ability that Suarez has. If Luis was at Barca/Bayern or Real he would be getting the world player of the year award – no doubt about it.
I couldn’t give a tinker’s cuss. We really wanted the league not an individual award
We never want
We never wanted the league. All we wanted was top4. It was Suarez brilliance that #MakeUsDream for the league.
So he deserves all the awards he’s getting.
We never wanted the league? Speak for yourself! We are Liverpool, dont ever forget that.
