With the World Cup now a week old, the stars of Brazil 2014 are finally starting to emerge, and Chile’s Alexis Sanchez currently looks to be chief among them.
While Liverpool are still in the hunt for Adam Lallana, Xherdan Shaqiri and Sanchez both appear to be ‘backup’ targets but with the bid for Lallana seeming to drag on longer and longer as each day of the World Cup passes by, it’s now the time for the club to move their intentions to either Shaqiri or Sanchez.
Prior to the World Cup kicking off, many felt that it was an ‘either or’ situation, with regards who was the better of the two, if Liverpool weren’t going to sign Lallana but Sanchez has long been rated as a world class player, whilst Shaqiri is merely potentially a world class player.
Another plus in the Chilean’s corner is the fact that he is immensely experienced at club, European and international level, with almost 400 club games to his name – 60 of those being in Europe – and 66 caps for his country. Make no mistake, Shaqiri has had a great career so far but Sanchez represents the finished product and while the young Swiss player is a star in the making, Sanchez would be ready to fit straight in and offer top quality from the word ‘go’.
The only concern for Liverpool is that, whilst Lallana’s move stalls and Sanchez continues to impress at the 2014 World Cup, both players could be slipping through their fingers. If reports are to be believed, Arsenal have now taken an interest in Sanchez and the more big clubs that do, the more his price will increase and the more likely it is that Liverpool will be priced out of a move for him and he will only end up strengthening one of our rivals.
When the signings of Can and Lambert were completed in quick succession it really seemed that the club was getting it’s business done early, having learned from previous lessons but if Liverpool don’t move fast then two prime targets could fall from our grasp, and in Sanchez’s case that could be a very hard lesson.
If the reports are true, and Barcelona value the Chile player at around £25 million, then Liverpool need to move fast to secure the players services, because if his performances during the last few seasons (and at the World Cup so far) are anything to go by, seeing him work in tandem with Sturridge, Sterling and Suarez could be a dream come true.
This will rank as one of the best transfers ever, sadly liverpool fc being liverpool fc would rather scout for another asaps.
why lfc is so slow with their prime targets if want a player buy him..soccer changes and if u snooze u loose go break da bank n bring sanchez
.
Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge, Sanchez…hottest ever in the football world.
Sanchez and add Shaqiry. Woohoo… Them and Sturridge,Suarez,Sterling. And Coutinho, Firminho, Henderson,Gerrard,Can,Skrtle, Sakho,Lovren/Moreno, Khadiera,Flanagan, Enrique,Mignolet. B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.LL.! But will LFC move fast and secure the targets? Past windows are very painful reminders.
