Daniel AggerLiverpool Football Club will kick off their pre-season programme with a friendly match away to Denmark’s most popular football club, Brondby IF as they celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The two sides will kick-off at 6pm local time on Wednesday 16th July at the home of the Danish Superliga club, Brondby Stadion.

Liverpool FC and Brondby have previously only met three times with the last clash being almost ten years ago in the 1995/96 Europa League.

The Reds have a large following across Denmark, with over 80,000 Danish fans following the Club’s official Facebook account. Liverpool FC vice-captain and captain of the Denmark international team, Daniel Agger, transferred from Brondby to LFC in the 2006-07 season and has helped build the profile of the Reds across his homeland.

Billy Hogan, Chief Commercial Officer at Liverpool FC said, “Liverpool FC has a large following across Scandinavia, especially in Denmark, so it’s really exciting that we will be bringing the Club closer to our fans through this pre-season friendly against the biggest team in the country.”

Brondby IF’s Sports Director, Per Rud, commented: ”We look forward to welcoming Liverpool FC at Brondby. Liverpool FC is one of the world’s biggest and most popular clubs, and we hope that a great deal of Brondby IF’s fans and also Scandinavian fans of LFC will take part in this unique experience at Brondby Stadium. Liverpool FC is an important part of our club’s history, and the friendly match the 16th of July is therefore a perfect way to mark Brondby IF’s 50th anniversary and also an ideal last preseason match for our squad”.

The Reds will kick-off their pre-season campaign in Denmark, which will be followed by the below fixtures:

Saturday 19 July – Preston North End v LFC – KO 3pm

Stadium: Deepdale, UK

Wednesday 23 July – LFC v AS Roma – KO 7.30pm EST

Stadium: Fenway Park, Boston

Sunday 27 July – LFC v Olympiacos – KO 5pm CST

Stadium: Soldier Field, Chicago

Wednesday 30 July – Manchester City v LFC – KO 7pm EST

Stadium: Yankee Stadium, New York

Saturday 2 August – LFC v AC Milan City – KO 6.30pm EST

Stadium: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte

 

Sunday 10 August – LFC v Borussia Dortmund – KO 12.15pm

Stadium: Anfield Stadium

Information about tickets to see Liverpool FC v Brondby IF will be released in the coming days and fans should check Liverpool’s website for further details.

Liverpool FC will field a first team squad barring any injuries or national team duty for the World Cup.
