Having previously championed Rossi’s cause as the answer to Liverpool’s goal scoring issues, it seems obvious that he would be linked to LFC but a whole summer seems to have gone by without a single mention of the striker moving to Anfield.
Until last night, he’s about the only one who hasn’t been linked. But as of this morning that has all changed as a couple of sources claim that Liverpool have been ‘tracking’ the former Man Utd man for a while.
Of course, this all seems fairly new considering Rodgers and his transfer committee have been reported to be after every striker on the planet at some time or other but at least it’s a new name.
Rossi has been fairly prolific over the years, scoring 15+ regularly for Villareal, culminating in a superb 32 goal season in 2011.
A series of injuries kept him out for much of the past few seasons but following a move to Fiorentina he’s remained relatively injury-free, going to score 17 goals in 25 games for his new side.
The American born player has largely gone under the radar throughout his career despite being one of the better strikers around Europe and even the Italy manager overlooked him for his World Cup squad.
If Liverpool were to make a move it’s likely the player could be available for as little as £20 million, which compared to the fee touted for the likes of Wilfried Bony and wage demand of certain players seems fairly reasonable.
How would you feel about the prospect of signing a former Utd player? Is Rossi the right calibre of player to compliment Liverpool’s attack?

rossi, rues, romero after l series and then double m may be its time for rs. lets see as we have been linked with every strikers on the planet.
Rossi could be better. . . I could hardly Go for Bony. . Buh my 1st choice is Marco Reus. . Letz Go for Him. . . Only Reus can Fill the Void Left by Suares. . BR pls
we’re turning into man city and chelsea now we’re back in the champions league. we might only be in it for one year. i almost wish we hadn’t qualified for it
Reus most wanted above all
we should try and sign falcao to replace suarez brendan pls he is de only 1 that can fill in de void
No, final signing has to be a top striker or one who is developing. At this point, is take bony.
