Inter striker, and former Sampdoria player, Icardi is believe to be on Liverpool’s radar
Reports in Italy today claim that Liverpool are due to approach Inter with a bid in the region of £18 million for Argentinan striker Mauro Icardi. The young striker spent just one season at the Italian club, scoring 9 goals in a season which Inter struggled and eventually finished well off the Champions League places in Italy.
According to Tutto Mercato Liverpool manager Rodgers see the 21-year old as the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez, and is prepared to put a hefty sum out for the Argentine to prove him right.
In recent weeks, Inter representatives have been quoted as claiming that the player wants only to remain at Inter and do well for his club so it remains to be seen whether a bid of any sort will allow Liverpool to discuss terms with the striker.
With just 56 games in Italian football to his name, the young attacking playing has a fairly impressive 20 goals in a country where goals are quite difficult to come by but as to whether he is the ‘big name’ Liverpool are after, we will just have to wait and see.
