Liverpool Player Ratings v Man City

|

 Goalkeeper/Defence

Simon Mignolet – Similar nervous performance from the Belgian as last week and surprisingly had much less to do. Little to do other than pick the ball out of his net, but alarmingly very easily beaten at his near post for Aguero’s goal and flapped at high balls and crosses. Rating – 5

Glen Johnson – Little can be said about Johnson that hasn’t already, other than it’s perhaps the end of the road. Injury late on may have saved him the ignominy of being dropped next week. Rating – 4

Martin Skrtel – Again, solid at the back and rarely gave much away but must accept collective blame with the rest of the defence for conceding 3 soft goals. Rating – 6

Dejan Lovren – A huge improvement is needed next week as his performance against City was very poor. As with the goal against Southampton he got sucked in when he should’ve held his line a number of times and the communication between him and Skrtel must improve. Rating – 5

Alberto Moreno – At fault for one goal but otherwise impressed on his debut. As with Lovren, he’s only new and with so many new faces at the back mistakes must be expected early on. Rating – 6

Who was that plonker on here defending the pony Glen Johnson?

Gerrard should be a 30 minute impact sub these days. He is no defensive midfield player that’s for sure. Rodgers seems unable to see the obvious, either that or he’s too weak to drop him.
