Liverpool Player Ratings vs Everton

|

Midfield

Steven Gerrard – In a fairly typical way, Gerrard stamped his mark all over another derby and that may fool many into believing he has passed his bad run of form. To those not so easily blinkered, however, the captain was again a ghost for around 64 minutes, until he scored from that free kick. It may seem harsh on Gerrard but he cannot be allowed to ghost in and out of games and score the occasional penalty or free-kick. Needs to either seriously up his performances or should be dropped. Rating – 6

Jordan Henderson – The 223rd Merseyside derby was Jordan Henderson at his best – boundless levels of energy, crisp, incisive passing and dominating the midfield. Deserves the chance to influence proceedings more but is being seriously stifled at present.  Hopefully Joe Allen will return soon and take some of the pressure off him. Rating – 8

No, the once who looked stupid is the guys who paid 25 million for him. Man of the match? What did he create? Score?

    Henderson, yes.

Gerrard deserves a 6 and nothing more. Agreed. But, he is being man marked in every single game (some new strategy against Liverpool) just like Naismith who was tailing him all day long. And just as usual, he made some brilliant defensive interruptions and clearance.
Adam Lallana was clearly the man of the match in anyone’s eyes. He worked hard and tried to be creative in the opposition half which not many did.
