Goalkeeper/Defence
Simon Mignolet – As one might expect, Mignolet was as shaky as usual. He did at least look to be making an effort to improve on his weakness in his game but, while at no fault for the penalty, he also got nowhere near the shot, which is something you’d at least hope for from a Premier League ‘keeper. Rating – 5
Javier Manquillo – Our other young Spanish full back added another good performance to his recent run and, despite a solid cameo from the experienced Johnson late on, should hold his place down going forward. Rating – 7
Martin Skrtel – A solid outing again from Skrtel who continues to be the most reliable and consistent of the Reds still immensely suspect backline. Rating – 7
Dejan Lovren – A far less mistake laden display from Lovren but he did conspire to give away the penalty that never should have been given. Irregardless of this fact, should not be making lunging challenges to close so his own box, unless as a last resort. Rating – 6
Alberto Moreno – Already beginning to look like a proper summer bargain, Moreno was again able to be at both ends and seems to have a huge reserve of energy which enables his superb forward runs and means he is rarely caught out at the back. Rating – 8
Lallana was amazing and the team is begining to take shape. But am feeling a bit suspect about this international break. It seem to pop whenever we are finding our feet.
There’s no such word as irregardless.
As Rodgers said, Sturridge is not fit to play for England, so is Lallana. He should remain at anfield and train well.
