It wouldn’t be the strangest transfer, if it actually went through, but Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain moving to Anfield has always seemed little more than a pipe-dream, with Liverpool seemingly intent on bringing in young talent with plenty of potential.

However, over the weekend the rumours of the Argentina striker’s move to Liverpool refusing to go away, and neither Liverpool or the Italian side refuting the claims of a number of tabloids and online sources.

In the past couple of days, Liverpool have moved to sell Oussama Assaidi for around £4.5 million, whilst Juventus’ rumoured interest in signing Mario Balotelli has led to reports that his agent is due to meet with Liverpool officials this week.

Of course, all of this has only fueled the idea that Liverpool are looking to raise funds to add to the small transfer pot available, in order to fund a move for the talented Napoli striker to attempt to activate his release clause.

But perhaps the biggest indicator that Higuain could be about to exit Naples is his clubs’ signing of Sampdoria star, Manolo Gabbiadini over the weekend for a few of around £10 million. This has further increased speculation that the former Madrid star could well be making a new home for himself on Merseyside by the end of January.

Do you think there’s any solidity in these rumours, or should Reds just not get their hopes up too high this month? Let us know your thoughts below.

IF it happened, it would be a quality addition. Higuain is a proven goalscorer and would only improve our team.
However, Origi coming back as an extra forward option (another persistent rumour) along with Sturridge back should be enough for us to finish the season strong.

No we are not. Absolutely not, I can assure you of that.
For a start, you are dealing with a cinema , film maker owner who knows how to sell and drives a hard bargain. Secondly, they want CL revenue by qualifying next year and that’s worth more than 30 mil.

One player I would try signing is Julian draxler. Having watched him (admittedly only 4 games), his potential is to become far better than Hazard
