In what has probably been a more drawn-out effort than many of us realise, Liverpool have finally moved on Oussama Assaidi in a supposed £4 million deal to Dubai based Al Ahli Club.
The Moroccan, who was greeted with a great deal of surprise on signing for LFC in 2012 from Heerenveen, made just a dozen appearances for the Reds but had a much more successful loan spell at Premier League Stoke City in 2013-14, scoring a famous goal against Chelsea which was perhaps his most famous Liverpool moment.
The winger was again loaned to Stoke this season before being recalled with the intention to sell and, despite standing as another failed transfer on Rodgers’ and his transfer committee’s part, the small profit will be much welcomed and should add a fairly significant amount to the small transfer ‘kitty’ believed to be available.
Despite an unsuccessful spell at LFC, Live4liverpool.com wishes Oussama all the best in his future career.
Do you feel that Assaidi was always destined to fail at Liverpool or was he never given a fair chance to stake his claim in the first team? Let us know your thoughts below.
