Gerrard stood up when Liverpool needed him again tonight against lower-league opposition

We just can’t make it easy for ourselves, can we? It all seemed like we were preparing for a simple 90+ minute trip into the FA Cup fourth round, before our typical self-inflicted implosion occurred but – thankfully – the captain was on hand to put in the kind of display we’ve not seem in some time and bag a couple of goals.

It wasn’t pretty and it perhaps raised slightly more questions about the state of Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool team but we’re through and that is surely all that matters.

I'm a 32 year old Liverpool fan, living in the heart of the City Centre. I've supported the club since the day I was born and have been writing articles for L4L for over 3 years, writing close over 350 articles in that time. My favorite player of the past generation is Sami Hyypia.

I am the current editor for L4L, with my day job being in R&D for the NHS.

Not a performance to be proud of but I guess we are getting used to that now. So the player we are letting go and is over the hill once again has to show the team how to put the ball in the net. Pathetic Brendan says win it for gerrrard , yes fantastic motivation skills. How about win it for the fans who have to listen your lame excuses every week ???

Terrible performance yet again and rescued by Gerrard our top scorer, If played in the right role he clearly has plenty to offer unlike some of Brenda’s other flops.
