Like Vietto, Icardi is also experiencing a barnstormer of a season, a breakthrough year at the strike rate he is currently operating at.

Unlike Vietto though, Inter Milan seem aware of the interest in the 22 year old Argentinean and the fee quoted is a whopping £30m. This is quite a price when you consider he may not be first choice should he arrive at Liverpool, although Inter Milan’s Financial Fair Play Issues may mean the price is lowered so he can be sold quickly and Roberto Mancini has funds to strengthen other areas of the team (Yaya Toure?).

Chelsea have been heavily linked, while Tottenham, Valencia and Bayern Munich have also been rumoured suitors. He is a deadly finisher when given the chance, which has been problematic in a declining Inter Milan side, and possesses plenty of pace and skill, yet can come back to link up play.

However, strikers from Serie A have tended to struggle recently with the demands of the Premier League (see Borini) and I would have Vietto and Ings above Icardi on my shortlist.
