The young Charlton star has today signed for Liverpool
In keeping with the club’s current summer policy of getting it’s business done early, LFC have today announced the signing of Charlton Athletic’s England U19 centre back, Joe Gomez.
The 18 year old becomes the club’s 4th summer signing after penning a long-term deal at the club.
It’s highly unlikely that Gomez has been brought in to be considered for the first team just yet, and will no doubt become a regular fixture in the Reds’ youth setup, despite the large outlay on such a young player.
On signing for Liverpool, Gomez told Liverpoolfc.com: “The club has got great history and it’s a great club, and one that I’ve always been following from when I was young.
“The style of football and the top players here was somewhere that I wanted to go and get better and learn, and play good football. It was an easy decision.”
The young defender has played just 24 games for Charlton but is thought of very highly and claims to have turned down a move to Manchester United and Arsenal to sign for the club.
