Liverpool have announced the signing of Brazil star Firmino this morning

Liverpool Football Club have announced the completion of the club’s fifth summer signing this morning, with the confirmation that Roberto Firmino is to sign from German club Hoffenheim.

Sky Sports, and later, the Liverpool ECHO broke news late last night that the club had agreed a deal with the Germans to sign the player, after earlier reports over the weekend that negotiations were at an advanced stage between the two sides.

But the club has announced the official signing of the Brazilian star this morning, subject to a medical and confirmation of a work permit for the South American.

At this stage, both should be fairly straightforward procedures, meaning that the club could be having a very busy opening day of the transfer window in a week’s time, with at least five new players moving to Anfield.

The Brazilian brings with him incredible ability and technique, with an eye for goal and, with 21 assists in the pasts two seasons, he reportedly has the best overall assists record of any Brazilian in the top five leagues.

That sort of record, of course, means that he won’t come cheap, with claims that Liverpool are likely to pay between 25-30 million Euros for the attacker.

But top players don’t come cheap these days and the Reds will be bringing in a very highly talented attacker that can play anywhere across the front, as well as starting as a forward/striker.

Roberto will bring a surprising amount of experience for a player of 23, with over 200 club games in his career as well as nine caps for Brazil, with the fourth of his international goals coming in a 2-1 win that saw his national team move into the quarter finals of this year’s Copa America.

A striker, that’s what we’ve lacked since the departure of Suarez. His techniques will surely help us to be in the top Four for 2015-2016. A striker was long overdue to Liverpool Fans after a disappointing 2014-2015 season. Firmino can surely replace Raheem Sterling easily. Surely he will score more goals than Raheem Sterling. That’s what we expect from him and he will respond to our expectations. With Firmino, Champions League is not too far away next time.
