As if we didn’t know it already, one of Roberto Firmino’s former Hoffenheim team mate has confirmed what a great signing Liverpool have made. Firmino is expected to be announced today, the first day of the transfer window, and former Tottenham goalkeeper, Heurelho Gomes believes Liverpool should benefit greatly.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Gomes said: “He’s a talented player.
“I played with him at Hoffenheim. [At] that time, he wasn’t there yet but I could see that he was going to become a very good player.
“I believe it’s a very good signing from Liverpool and he is capable of doing very well in the Premier League.
“Of course, the Premier League is difficult, he will need time to adapt because he’s still young.
“But he has everything to do very well.”
Firmino moves to the Premier League at 23 years of age, having spent the last 5 seasons at Hoffenheim and joins for a fee that is believed to eventually rise to £30 million, making him the second most expensive player in the club’s history but many pundits and experts are backing the Brazilian to hit the ground running.
With fellow Brazilian’s Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva already at the club, settling in shouldn’t be a huge issue for Firmino, and if he can hit anything close to the form he was in at Hoffenheim in the last two seasons the Reds will be very content with this piece of business.
