Predicted team: Manchester United vs LIVERPOOL

|
Lovren may not be the most confident player at present but he may benefit from starting today

Dropping Lovren immediately may be a mistake

GK/Defence

Simon Mignolet – Obvious, this one. Unless Brendan decides to pull a Brad Jones and give Adam Bogdan a go.

Nathaniel Clyne – Brilliant start to his Liverpool career and looks to have nailed down a regular place in the England side, one of the first names on the team sheet, at present.

Martin Skrtel – With Lovren having another ‘mare last time out, regardless of whether Rodgers opts to drop him, Skrtel should start again.

Dejan Lovren – This may come as a surprise to many, but dropping Lovren after a bad game (yes, he did have many bad games last season) isn’t the way to go. We have to stick with a centre back pairing, at least for a while to see if it can gel; swapping and changing was a large part of our problem last season.

Alberto Moreno – This may seem a contradiction, but Gomez should be pulled out of the spotlight for this one. We’ve seen too many young players have a nightmare in a big game and never recover, and after having an average afternoon – at best – against West Ham, Moreno’s experience may be more fitting.
