According to reports this morning, Liverpool midfielder and former Brendan Rodgers favourite Joe Allen, may be surplus to requirements under Jurgen Klopp.
Allen has seen little action since Klopp joined the club, despite starting on Thursday in the Europa League. Allen was withdrawn at half-time, with Lucas coming in to replace him and was an unused substitute against Southampton on Sunday.
Allen was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Swansea shortly after signing for Liverpool himself for a fee of £15 million but has failed to really cement a place in the squad, let alone first team.
And it now appears that Rodgers’ departure could very well signal the end for Allen, who the Daily Star are claiming Jurgen doesn’t fancy very much.
They also claim that there are a number of Premier League clubs who would be interested in Allen, with Sunday’s opponents Southampton, Leicester, and his former club Swansea all in the running.
Quite how much Liverpool could expect to make back from the midfielder is open to debate. But at only 25, he is still considered relatively young and would no doubt recoup a fair amount.
Do you feel that Allen should be moved on in January or should Klopp give him time to prove himself? Let us know your thoughts below.
surplus to requirement for any premier league club
Shouldn’t have signed for LFC in the 1st place..He is suited for championships teams ..in similar stature of BR..hahaha
I don’t bulk of the guys signed by brendan will actually fit into jurgen’s team, so sad Allen will be the first to be shipped out. Good lucck 2 him anyways, YNWA…
