Five Who Could Follow Klopp to Anfield

The 18 year old is very much on Liverpool’s radar

Ruben Neves (FC Porto)

Having already captained his club, one of the giants of Portuguese football, on multiple occasions at the tender age of 18 (currently the youngest captain in Champions League history), Ruben Neves may be seen by those at Anfield as a long-term replacement for Gerrard, as the young Portuguese star has the potential to become a complete midfielder.

So it’s hardly surprising that FC Porto want roughly £30m for the teenager.

Again another deep-lying midfielder, Neves can and likes to support attacks, while his positional sense, passing and awareness of everything around him at such a young age have led clubs such as Chelsea to express interest.

However, Liverpool seem to be ahead of the queue, having reportedly entered negotiations already with Porto over a future transfer, perhaps in January but more likely to be in the summer.

Yet Neves could probably slot into Liverpool’s midfield right now, as though the likes of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Lucas Leiva are all good players, especially Henderson, none have the talent or future capability of Neves to operate at a world class level.
