Simon Mignolet is Liverpool’s number one. There can be no doubt about that, but for the first time in many a year, it appears that there may be a backup keeper at the club that could potentially challenge for the number one spot.

After just two appearances in the Capital One Cup for Liverpool, Adam Bogdan has shown some great qualities, with command of his box, playing as a sweeper-keeper and great shot-stopping in the penalty shootout against Carlisle. And he is determined to gain more chances under Klopp and prove his worth.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Bogdan said: “I know what I need to do on the training ground, what things I need to improve.

“Also, apart from that, there are lot of things you need to maintain, so there’s always a lot of work.

“The way I stay patient is because I had a chance to play and the main thing is that I’m hoping that gets me another chance.

“This is the nature of football, the nature of this position, there’s only one person can play and if that guy is doing really well it’s really hard to take over.

“But at the same time it’s really good because it shows that the work we’re doing in training [is paying off] – he’s working extremely hard, the team is doing well, it’s really good to see as well.

“I need to do my job and once the chance comes just try to take it.”

The Hungarian international had managed to push himself into becoming Bolton Wanderer’s number one for three seasons between 2011-2014 before gradually playing less games last season and leaving on free to join Liverpool as Simon Mignolet’s backup.

That’s not to say that either Mignolet or Adam Bogdan are likely to be at the club in 12 months times, neither has shown that they have the qualities (yet) to be a top level number one for years to come. But in the meantime, there seems like we could see some competition for the goalkeeper’s jersey at Anfield.

It’s clear that Liverpool could strengthen between the sticks, but do you think Bogdan could challenge Mignolet as the current season goes on? November 21, Liverpool will face Manchester City and according to Bet365, a review can be found on www.betting-sites.org, Aguero wants to challenge the Reds, probably a good day to proof themselves. But who will the goal keeper be in this so important game? Let us know who you’d prefer in the Liverpool goal below.
