The German midfielder was very poor today

Midfield

Lucas Leiva – Liverpool’s longest serving (current) player captained the side for just the second time today, and was unfortunate to see the team lose for the first time under Klopp. Lucas was his usual solid self, and contributed well getting forward. Led the team well and ensured the 11 men on the pitch pushed on for a winner, and then an equalizer, until the very end. Rating – 7

Emre Can – A poor game from Can again, who has flattered to deceive in recent weeks. Klopp is clearly a fan but today Can resembled Joe Allen more than than the enigmatic, all-action German international we know him to be. His passing was erratic, his forward runs a little pointless and, like many of his team mates, his end product was non-existent. Really need to start seeing more from the classy German or it won’t be the first time he’s pulled off after barely an hour. Will take a lot of the blame for Palace’s first goal. Rating – 5.5
