All it took was a Boxing Day win, and suddenly all of those recent sub-par results were forgotten. Wins over the Christmas period can give any team a real shot in the arm, as Liverpool will no doubt have discovered today. Even more impressive though, was how Klopp’s men went about nullifying the threat of the current deadliest attacking duo in the Premier League, with both subbed mid-way through the 2nd half.

There were a number of good performers today, but one or two really stood out, particularly a certain central defender who is continuing to go from strength-to-strength.

For Liverpool, all eyes must now be on the visit to Sunderland on Wednesday night, with only collecting all three points the aim or stopping the league leader’s run in its tracks and consigning Ranieri’s team to only their second defeat of the season will have been for nothing.

For now, as fans, let’s just bask in the glory of a Boxing Day win. Check out our player ratings below.

A welcome win after a disappointing run of results recently, and below par performances. We however still need to improve our conversion rate, score more goals in games, as leading by a single goal can easily be overturned. We missed a couple of chances that would have put the game beyond Leicester.

Henderson should have shot at goal when he had only the keeper to beat instead of squaring the ball into the goal area without checking if there was any teammate available to collect the pass and shoot at goal.

Also wasted chances from Firmino, with a left shot that went wide, and Benteke right at the death. It’s difficult to defend a one goal lead, so the team needs to learn to finish off the opposition. We seem only able to or capable of scoring more than one goal when Sturridge is playing.
