Could Liverpool be about to sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s midfield star?
Big fee transfers are never easy for clubs to get over the line, but for Liverpool they always seem to be eminently more difficult, as evidenced by the way things appear to be hotting up in the chase of Shakhtar Donetsk’s attacker Alex Teixeira.
A report from Sky Sports News HQ last night claimed that Teixeira had told Shakhtar that he wanted to leave the club, but only to join Liverpool. There were also claims that he is best mates with Reds duo Lucas and Philippe Coutinho. Music to the ears of Liverpool fans everywhere.
However there were also reports from the Liverpool Echo around the same time that a deal for the player was no closer. If anything, considering the player’s club had rejected Liverpool’s initial approach, it seemed that the move was even further away.
As of the past half hour though, sources in the Ukraine (Futbol Ukraine) appear to suggest terms have been agreed and it is now just up to Liverpool and Shakhtar to agree on a fee before pushing a deal through.
As with previous deals with Ukrainian sides, it seems likely that Liverpool will have to come back with a very good offer to make the deal happen, but with the player so keen and the likes of Chelsea circling, it may just see the club go for broke and hand over the asking price.
It now appears that Tex doesn’t know Lucas having never played with him, but he has apparently met him. He does know Coutinho from 2009 and they have played together. I hope this friendship thing means nothing because he played around 100 games with Willian of Chelsea. I think all we need to do is pay the 50 million Euros they want.
I read on the football rumours LFC page that the statement from Lucecru about Tex being allowed to leave for the right offer was said over two weeks ago when they were talking to Chavski.
Its always the way liverpool do big transfers.The cheap ones always go smoothly but when they have to splash the cash a little Ian ayre and the transfer committee lose their nerve.This is the reason we are a midtable team at the moment we drag our heels in the transfer market and get fans worked up for nothing.I hope they get this deal over the line.
Nothing good comes so cheaper but all what we liiverpool have to do is to try and have a good element in the team. Besides,Alex Teixeira is the only person that I thought can save us from the mess of the home league
Liverpool need to pay a bit extra for him, because we won’t be able to get them kind of players in the summer when all the huge clubs do their business. A player like that is worth €50m to that average Liverpool side. Teixeira has very similar attributes to Arsenal’s Sanchez and would transform our attack. I hope FSG don’t blow this possibility like all the others.
I would be glad if for the first time liverpool manage getting a player they desparately want without looking at the price too much.otherwise we shall end up losing Tex like we did with konoplyanka.
We didn’t get Kono because of their owner who ended up blocking the move despite us meeting the price and agreeing terms with the player. We can do much more than that.
Kloppo said he had nothing to say when asked for an update at the press conference. I am worried that we don’t have the money required to get him. One of the editors said that we watched Praet again last night. Watched him on YouTube and he looks like he would be a good addition and only half teh price. Maybe we can get Praet and Ter Stegen. I would be happy with that.
sincerely speaking i would love lfc to get Texeira as soon as possible, cos to me tactically its going to be very attacking having the likes of coutino firmino and Texeira as an attacking forward coupled with inns who will be back next season.
