Midfield

Lucas Leiva – Straight back in the team and straight back in as our man of the match. Lucas set the tone early by taking out Fellaini and making the United midfielder think Steven Gerrard was back in a Liverpool shirt. From then on in, the 29 year old controlled the midfield and made sure few of United’s attacks came to much. Played some lovely raking balls forward in the first half, one of which should’ve seen Lallana open the scoring. Rating – 7 Man of the Match

Jordan Henderson – If there’s one things you can’t accuse Jordan Henderson of, it’s being a ‘big-time Charlie’. If there is one type of game that the current Liverpool captain will go missing in, it’s the big ones. Today, he was doing his headless chicken impression, as he charged about the field, getting in his team mates ways, losing possession and basically shooting from anywhere whenever he was within 40 yards of the opposition box. This kind of nonsense has to stop, as Henderson needs to show higher levels of composure and leadership in games like this, not to mention quality. Had no impact on the game. Rating – 5.5

Emre Can – Unlike the captain, Can at least managed to get involved in a meaningful way on occasion. Had a good effort in the first half that was unlucky not to open the scoring. Showed some good game intelligence but all too easily squandered possession in easy situations. He at least has the excuse of being a youngster (technically) still. Must improve. Rating – 6

It’s not going to be easy to clean the mess left behind by B.G

Klopp is making absolutely no move to clean up the mess in the team this January window; no mention of buying or getting a striker on loan. Defending set pieces is shambolic and even our delivery and utilisation of set pieces is awful.
