The veteran centre back was in good form but looks to be another casualty

GK/Defence

Simon Mignolet – The Belgian was much more aggressive and impressive tonight. He attempted to command his area more and even strayed away from the safety of his goal-line a few times. Rating – 6

Nathaniel Clyne – At times tonight Clyne looked more like winger but still retained the stamina to assist as ably as usual at the back. Few players seem to represent what Klopp wants more and, more often than not, it shows.  Rating – 7

Dejan Lovren – Wasn’t it just typical that Lovren would hit the best form of his Liverpool career and pull up with a hamstring injury? Fingers crossed it isn’t too bad. Either way, he should sit out the game on Friday. Rating – 7

Kolo Toure – The veteran was superb all night. Keeping a succession of Stoke forwards at bay. He and Lucas formed an unlikely centre back pairing from the 34th minute and they were rarely out-fought or thought all night. Should we try this again against Exeter? It’s certainly food for thought. Well, as long as he can shake of his own hamstring injury. Rating – 8

Alberto Moreno – An off night going forward for Moreno, who was one of few Reds that struggled. Rating – 6
