Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel’s future has been the source of much speculation in recent weeks. Due to injury and form, the Slovakian defender has found himself behind Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and now Kolo Toure in the Reds back line and Fanatik in Turkey is now linking the 31 year old with a move to Galatasaray.

With Joel Matip joining on a free transfer from Schalke in the summer, Skrtel’s position in the Liverpool squad under Jurgen Klopp has been questioned further still and a move to Galatasaray’s rivals Besiktas has also been mooted in recent weeks.

Galatasaray have had a very difficult season in the Turkish Super Lig and find themselves sixth in the table on 45 points, 28 points behind league leaders Besiktas. They have conceded 47 goals in 31 matches this season and Fanatik believe that Skrtel may well be the answer to improve the Turkish giant’s defensive record next campaign as they look to reverse their fortunes after a dismal 2015/16 season.
