Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho’s representatives have denied that any approach was made for the player from Roma, according to France Football.

Italian media reports suggested that Roma general manager Mauro Baldissoni and sporting director Frederic Massara were at the game last night between the Reds and the Italian side to talk to Liverpool officials about the possibility of a loan deal, but the French football magazine confirmed that no such discussions have taken place.

Sakho’s future at Anfield has been thrown into question after the Frenchman was sent home from the US preseason tour after three separate indiscretions resulted in his expulsion from the squad by Jurgen Klopp.

It seems to be clear however that Sakho has every intention of staying and fighting for his place in the side, and to regain his place in the France national side. It will be interesting to see which of the four centre backs Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Sakho will start as first choice under Jurgen Klopp this season.
