Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the club’s transfer activity may not be over this summer. The Reds have already made seven signings this summer with Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan, Sadio Mane, Georginio Widjnaldum, Loris Karius and Alex Manninger all joining the club but the Reds boss is concerned by weaknesses at the back.

Klopp is concerned by issues specifically at centre back in particular but it may be at left back where the Reds make a move with Alberto Moreno the only genuine left back currently in the squad. He was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:

“Is the activity all over? I have no idea. I don’t think so. We will see what happens. If the Roma game was our base then we have to change everything but it isn’t. Was the Milan game more our base? Maybe. But Roma? No. (Joe) Gomez, (Mamadou) Sakho and Lucas are all injured so of course we haven’t got enough centre-backs at the moment. But we have to handle situations. There have been too many games with not enough centre-backs. We can’t sign someone just for a few weeks. In other positions we do have cover.”

The Reds have been linked with FC Cologne’s Jonas Hector constantly throughout the summer but it is believed that the Bundesliga club’s asking price of £20million is proving too high for the Reds which means they are looking at other alternative targets. Whether they make a move for an eighth summer signing, we will have to wait and see.
