Liverpool are unlikely to bid for FC Cologne’s Jonas Hector as they don’t believe he is worth the £20million price tag placed on him by the German club, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds have been looking for a left back all summer, and after allowing Brad Smith to leave for Bournemouth for a reported £6million, they now have only one senior left back in Alberto Moreno.

The Spaniard gave the Reds a scare when he was injured against Roma in a 2-1 defeat on Monday but manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that it was not as bad as first feared and that the full back suffered a dead leg.

Still, it leaves the Merseyside club woefully short in full back areas, and with Ben Chilwell signing a new deal at Leicester city after the Foxes rejected a £7m bid from Liverpool for the 19 year old, the Reds are running low on options.

With Hector seemingly out of the question, Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio has been touted as a possible alternative in the Italian media but it was reported yesterday that he wants a move to Juventus.
