Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been speaking to SeneNews Sport about the comparisons between his current manager Jurgen Klopp and his previous manager Ronald Koeman at Southampton.

The Senegalese international had a few run-ins with the Dutchman when he was at St Mary’s and was benched after turning up late for a pre match team meeting in January. Mane was however complimentary of both Koeman and Klopp in the interview, contrasting the two managers’ styles:

“Each of the two has a method of its own. Personally, I like them both. It is true that Koeman was very cool, calm, but he also had a very strong personality. Currently, I adapt to the methods of Jurgen Klopp, he’s is a very stimulating coach, who likes the pace of games with great passion. But it is also very effective, as evidenced by the results.”

No doubt Klopp was pretty “stimulating” in his team talk at half time against Swansea at the weekend. The Reds were very lethargic in the first half at the Liberty stadium and could have been two or three goals down if Borja Baston had put away his chances. Klopp’s ability to motivate the players no doubt influenced the Reds’ second half turnaround allowing Liverpool to go into the international break just two points off league leaders Manchester City.
