Liverpool are tracking three players in view to making a bid in the January transfer window, according to the Liverpool Echo.

A usually highly reliable source, James Pearce says Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Quincy Promes of Spartak Moscow. In addition to Promes, the Reds are believed to be still keeping tabs on FC Rostov’s Sardar Azmoun and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic.

Liverpool manager Klopp is looking for backup when Sadio Mane leaves to play for Senegal in the African Cup of Nations and a bid is expected to be placed for one of these three in January.

Out of the trio Pulisic is the least likely and is believed to be a longer term target for Klopp. The American international may well sign a new contract to stay at Dortmund which would rule out any imminent move.

Promes is valued at £25million according to Pearce, and would have to be permanent deal rather than a loan agreement in order to fill in for the absent Mane. Azmoun meanwhile would be the cheapest and most realistic target although whether the Iranian international would be of the required quality is up for debate.
