We thought we’d seen a breakthrough with Can earlier this season as he was beginning to find the net more regularly.
That, combined with some good performances suggested the German was finally becoming the midfielder we thought he was going to be for the club but he’s gone backwards since. He’s not mobile enough to be the box-to-box player his role in midfield needs and certainly lacks both defensive and attacking qualities to really have an impact. We’d play Gini Wijnaldum all day at the moment.
