According to The Telegraph, the Reds are apparently not bothered by Arsenal’s valuation of £35 million for midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

We all know about how poor Arsenal have been this season and we’ve all seen the evident problems that they’ve got with both Arsene Wenger and playing squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, though, does look as though he does care, at least, and so in that regard we reckon he’d be a decent signing.

What is putting us off, at least – even if it isn’t doing so with the club – is that price tag.

For too long we’ve seen the Reds take big punts like this with sizable amounts of cash at stake and it has not always worked.

Indeed, we were hoping for a bit of a smarter approach in the summer and that if we were going to spend big bucks, to do so on top-drawer players.

This, though, suggests we’re not going to be like that – and that is a concern.
