As quoted by Reuters, James Milner has revealed that the next step in Liverpool’s progression as a side has to be that they win a trophy.
The Reds enjoyed a good season in 2016/17 in the end with them qualifying for the Champions League by a point ahead of Arsenal.
Now, then, the plan has to be to build on that and for the experienced Milner winning some silverware is the next step.
He said:
“Champions League was a step along the way. Last year we came close (to a trophy) but couldn’t get over the line. But playing in those sort of occasions and in those big games is important.
“Hopefully now we can stick a few trophies in the cabinet. That is the next step.”
Hopefully, then, the Redmen will be able to follow up on the vice-captain’s words and we’ll be able to get some silverware back to Anfield in 2017/18.
