According to Football Whispers, Newcastle are interested in taking young Joe Gomez on loan from Anfield for the new Premier League campaign.

We’ve seen only glimpses of what Gomez can do at Anfield during his stay so far with him largely being out through serious injuries.

When he has played, though, we have certainly been impressed with what we’ve seen and there can be no doubt that he has the ability to play at this level.

The question is, though, is he going to get enough minutes next season for the Reds and if he isn’t, he’d surely be better off on a loan deal.

Newcastle, then, might just be idea for him as he’ll certainly get more minutes there and will work under a manager we know can get the best out of defenders – Rafa Benitez.
