According to The Telegraph, Liverpool are going to abandon their chase for Naby Keita this summer with the idea that he’ll be available for £48 million next summer.

This has been one of the more enduring transfer stories in recent weeks involving the club and bids have been made and rejected for the player.

Indeed, it’s now thought that the club has given up on trying to sign him this summer and will just wait until the window this time next year when he will have a release clause in his contract for £48 million.

For sure, whilst that’s a substantial amount but it is less when compared to the reported £66 million we had rejected recently.

Things, then, could prove a blessing in disguise and if Keita has another good year this time around we’ll be more assured that we’ll be getting a top player.
