Ah, the morning of a Champions League tie, how we’ve longed for more of these over the past few years.
Indeed, the Reds have been out of the top European competition for way too long and tonight’s fixture in Germany against Hoffenheim comes as the first leg of the final hurdle before the group stages, with Liverpool overwhelming favourites to go through according to the Champions League qualification odds.
All the work that went into last season now comes down to these two games as we take on a handy Bundesliga side with plenty to prove themselves in this one.
Whoever wins over the two legs will take their place amongst the rest of the top European clubs around and so there is plenty on the line tonight.
Certainly, then, it’s going to be a competitive affair and we’re thinking that this is the XI that will represent our club this evening…
