According to Tuttosport – via Sport Witness – Liverpool will have to pay €30m if they want to sign Stefan de Vrij from Lazio.

Whilst Virgil van Dijk has been the main defender that we have been linked with in recent time, another Dutchman has also been apparently of interest to us.

Indeed, de Vrij looks like the kind of player that could be got for the right price with his new contract set to have a pretty reasonable release clause in it.

It remains to be seen, of course, if the Reds decide to activate it – if they are interested at all still – but we would like to see another centre-half arrive that is going to improve our fragile looking back-line.

We’ll have to wait and see.
