Speaking to Coral and as quoted by The Daily Star, Alan Shearer has said that he doesn’t feel Liverpool are good enough to win the league this season.

It’s been a pretty steady at best start to the campaign for the Reds with our defence looking shaky as per usual and our attack yet to really fire consistently.

For sure, then, there is work to do to improve on that but Shearer – a man who won the title with Blackburn – thinks that the Reds won’t be able to stump up a title challenge from here on in.

He said:

“Nothing has changed from last season.

“I was at the game when they played Newcastle. Same old problems defensively, had a lot of the ball in the first half and should have killed the game off.

“One great goal from Coutinho but other than they were poor going forward.

“They’ve got no chance of winning the Premier League playing like that.”

We’re currently seven points off of the two Manchester clubs going into this weekend’s games but we can shrink that down to four where United are concerned if we beat them.

And that, hopefully, will spark a good run of form.
