Liverpool have made a big decision on the future of young starlet Rhian Brewster, electing to keep him at Anfield next season as part of the first-team picture.

The 17-year-old is said by The Times to be preparing for a role in the senior squad after Jurgen Klopp decided that the teenager would not be sent on-loan next season, a key decision in the development of the teenager.

Brewster caught the eye last summer with an eight-goal haul for England’s U17 side during their World Cup glory but has failed to make a first-team appearance this season and his chances of featuring were ended after an ankle injury in January.

Set for a big future, the decision regarding Brewster is quite a shock and suggests that the long-term future of Daniel Sturridge, currently on-loan at rock-bottom West Brom, lies away from Anfield but Brewster will still face competition from Dominic Solanke in the battle to be Roberto Firmino’s understudy.

Danny Ings also remains in the picture and Divock Origi is due to return from a loan spell with Wolfsburg, suggesting that a major shake-up could emerge this summer.
